It is astonishing how these old proverbs never lose their value. This is the reason, they are evergreen and immortal.

The proverb haste makes waste is hundred percent applicable in many aspects of your life.

• Whatever you do in a hurry, is almost always wrong.
• You can never come to a hasty conclusion about a person, without properly knowing him.
• You lose control of your vehicles, when you drive around hastily. You will definitely meet with an accident.
• When you madly hurry about your work, you become very stressed and tensed.
• Hasty decisions taken when your emotions are raw, is always incorrect.
• Hasty outbursts of harsh words against your spouse\friends\colleagues, make you unhappy and guilt ridden. There are times, it destroys relationships.
• Hastiness while cooking is not advisable. You do everything the wrong way. Unruffled cooking makes your dish tasty and healthy.

In this modern age, things have changed so much that you can no longer take old sayings as it is. This is the reason this proverb needs a different perception.

Modernity has taken away some juice out of the proverb “haste makes waste.”

The world scenario today is very competitive, chaotic, mercenary, and harsh. You cannot relax, and wait for your time to come. You will be left far behind, if you do so.

The experience of my friend

My friend was once offered an agency for a famous product. He had to submit certain important papers to confirm his dealership.

My friend was so smug that the agency was his, that he coolly went for a vacation without completing his paper formalities.

“I do not know what happened in between. The agency has gone to someone else. I needlessly delayed submitting my papers. It was such a golden opportunity. I feel bad to have missed it,” he told me with a glum face.

Can you see how lucrative opportunities, needs fast and hasty work?

You do not have all the time in the world to do your work leisurely. If you do so, you will be the loser, just like my friend.

You cannot wait for things to happen on its own. You cannot afford to wait for your time to come, as it might not come to you at all. You have to go towards your opportunities.

You must keep on moving ahead.

Suppose you say, “Haste makes waste. So, let me wait and see whether the opportunity that I have received is worth it.”

The loser will invariably be you.

Most of you delay grabbing opportunities, thinking that you should go slow before making a decision. You forget that your delay is another person’s opportunity.

Of course, you should think and act. But you should also swoop over your opportunities, with the uncanny swiftness of an eagle, if you want to succeed in your life.  

Reasons why you should be hasty

When an opportunity knocks at your door, be hasty to grab it. If you miss it, it might not cross your way for a long time. Good opportunities are far in between. In such a situation, your haste is of utmost importance.

Can you be on time to your work, when you get ready at a snail pace?

You cannot.

You must get ready in a haste. Otherwise, you will be standing before your higher officials, reeling out some lame excuses for your late arrival. Persistent lack of punctuality, has an adverse effect in your professional success.

When you are sick, you should not delay and make your illness more aggravated. You have to see a doctor immediately. In such a situation, haste is the key to get your health back on its right track.

When someone needs your support, be hasty to help them. If you hesitate, you might have a change of mind. You might end up, not helping a needy person.

When you are working, you cannot afford to be too slow and relaxed. Your slowness will lead to a definite backlog of unfinished work. You must be hasty in a measured way to finish your work with excellence.

Is your child excelling in some talent?

If you do not hurry, the talent of your child might rust away. When you delay in bringing out the talent of your child, he might lose interest in it. So, be hasty to nurture your child’s ability.

Do you love someone?

Are you hesitating to express your love?

You delay might make you lose a good life partner.

Have you seen successful people?

Successful people never dither and dally. They take quick and smart decisions. This is the reason, successful people reach a pinnacle of success, which you find it impossible to imagine. Unless you are fast and swift, you will never succeed in your life.
